Lanaus Rainforest Adventure
Lanau, a child from the Iban tribe, will take your students on an exciting journey through the rainforest after a quick stop at his home a longhouse shared with 70 other people (wait until you see whats in his living room!). On our rainforest journey, we see orangutans, wild pigs and camouflaged snakes. Lanaus uncle teaches him traditional rainforest survival skills, such as finding plants that provide water and medicine - and using a blowpipe. Later, Lanaus mom picks him up in the family boat, but no play allowed until the chores are done (wash the boat!). Next morning, Lanaus off to school in a school-boat. Stunning photography and lively narrative help your students to discover cultural similarities and differences between their own lives, and that of a child living deep in one of the worlds oldest rainforests.
