Kids across the world speak different languages, wear different kinds of clothes and have different values and customs. They live in different kinds of houses, eat different types of food and practice different religions. And these differences make people special – wouldn’t it be boring if we were all the same?

But all kids – everywhere – also share many things in common.
All children love to play – and it’s amazing how similar games are everywhere in the world. Some games – like sports – helps to build strong bodies. Team games teach kids to work with others. Games that involve pretending allow kids to use their imagination. Kids don’t need to speak the same language to play together. Can you guess the most popular game in the world? Soccer!

All kids should help their families – being part of a family means helping your family. And - if given the chance - all kids can help to make this world a better place. All kids – everywhere - have something to contribute to society.

All kids share the same fundamental needs - good food, clean water,
adequate – and safe – housing, access to healthcare, education, and protection from war and violence.

All kids need the love of their family. And it’s important to remember that families come in all shapes and sizes. Some children live in a single-parent household, some live with a step-father or step-mother, while others live with foster parents – or in an orphanage.

And all kids – everywhere – need to belong to a community. Because communities help to connect families to other people, to their countries – and to the world.
