FACTS

Malaysia is home to many nationalities: Malays, Chinese, Indians and indigenous tribes. It is like visiting all of Asia in one country!

Many religions are practiced in Malaysia - The Malays are Muslim, the Chinese practice Taoism, the Indians – Hinduism, while the indigenous people are mainly animist.

The word Islam means “to submit” or “to obey,” derived from a word for peace

Most Muslims are not Arabs, and not all Arabs are Muslim. There are Muslims all around the world, with large populations in Africa, Central and Southeastern Europe, and Asia as well as in the Middle East.

In the United States, there are about 6-7 million Muslims - 1/3 are African American.

Azianne and her Kite
Fifteen year old Azianne is ordinary middle-class Muslim girl: at school she learns about computers, at home she helps her mother with dinner. Sometimes she takes her little brother to the carnival, although she would rather hangout at McDonalds with her friends. But when her father brings home a beautiful handmade kite, this valiant girl is determined to fly it - even though no one else can get it off the ground.
